On July 23, 2009, American Canine Association (ACA) President Bob Yarnall, Jr.
met with Arkansas Farm Bureau (ArFB) President Randy Veach, ArFB Executive Vice-President
Ewell Welch, ArFB Director Commodity and Regulatory Affairs Warren Carter, ArFB Director
of Organization and Member Programs Steve Hignight, Director of Organization and
Member Programs Chuck Tucker, Arkansas’s ABCDA President Fred Stafford, Arkansas’s
STEPP President Grover Jamenson, and Arkansas Federation of Animal Owners President
Kevin Foster at the Arkansas Farm Bureau building in Little Rock, Arkansas.
During the two hour meeting leaders of the Arkansas Farm Bureau listened to the
concerns and objectives of Arkansas’s professional dog breeder associations. The
group discussed past and present trends in the animal rights movement against the
overall breeding and selling of animals. Both state and national trends were assessed.
In conclusion, all participants felt the meeting was highly informative and created
a great understanding to the importance of the canine industry in Arkansas’s agricultural
